Suzanne Zhu
Founder / Principal
Founder of Key Language Training, Suzanne Zhu has over 15 years’ experience teaching French, Mandarin and English languages to adults and children. She is fluent in Mandarin, French, English, and Cantonese. Before immigrating to Canada in 2004, she was hired to provide Mandarin training at the American, British and French Consulates in Guangzhou, China. She obtained a BA degree in French and a diploma in Education from China and received Teacher Education at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Angel Yu
Executive Assistant
Angel earned a bachelor’s degree in Commerce at the Sauder School of Business from the University of British Columbia. Since 2011 Angel has been with Key Language Training both as a teacher and as secretary. Having had years of experience teaching adults and children’s Mandarin, Angel played a key role in adapting and improving the school’s curriculum for the adult Mandarin program. Angel has a natural ability to engage students and foster an interactive and dynamic learning environment for students of all ages. Her students love her ability to make the classroom fun.
Juan Du
Mandarin Teacher
Juan Du is a senior instructor at Key Language Training with over 10 years of Mandarin teaching experience. She has a master degree in art in Teaching Chinese As Second/Foreign Language from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China. In 2010, Juan received the “Outstanding Graduate of International College of Chinese Studies” award at East China Normal University, a regional-wide prestige given only to the top ten graduates. She assisted overseas companies in integrating into the Chinese culture, and taught business-centric Mandarin Chinese to western CEOs and employees alike. Juan’s wealth of relevant experience as well as her upbeat, energetic demeanor will ensure a productive and rewarding learning experience for her students.
Lin Fang
Mandarin Teacher
Lin Fang is a professional language instructor. She holds Dual Master’s Degree in Education and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. In her class, she keeps her students on track with the materials while not stressing the students. She has great abilities to adapt the materials to her students’ strengths/weaknesses and create a supportive learning environment. As she has rich experience in teaching and her knowledge in many fields, she has helped many students manage the subtlety of the Chinese language successfully.
Linda Li
Mandarin Teacher
Linda is great at creating a friendly, joyful and motivated class environment. She has experience teaching Mandarin from beginner to advanced levels and in assisting students to pass the HSK exam. She excels in communicating and developing relationships with students. Linda has a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Beijing Language and Culture University, and a Master of Mass Communication from Peking University. She is a highly experienced teacher.
Sophie Li
Mandarin Teacher
Sophie Li holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education and a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from the Capital Normal University of Beijing. Sophie has over 20 years of teaching experience. She has taught high school students and was awarded the Best Teacher of high school. She taught international students Mandarin in the Capital Normal University of Beijing . Her students were from various countries, such as UK, USA, Japan and Korea etc. Sophie has been with Key Language Training since 2016.
Angel Yuan
Mandarin Teacher
Angel Yuan is currently a Ph.D. student in linguistics. She holds a master’s degree in Education from D’youville University, a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brock University, a teacher’s college certificate, and a New York State teacher’s certification (grades 1-6). She teaches Mandarin to students of diverse professional backgrounds online and in-person, and to undergraduate and public-school students in Canada. She taught language and business courses at undergraduate schools in China and Taiwan. Combining her professional experience in business and teaching, her class is always engaging, efficient and effective
Helen Yu
Mandarin Teacher
Having received her bachelor’s degree in TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) in China, Helen was awarded a scholarship to study for a master’s degree in TCFL in the US. After graduation, she worked as a full-time lecturer at the University of Notre Dame and Texas A&M University. She taught Mandarin to university students at Durham University in England and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She also designed and offered online courses for students at the University of Sheffield. After traveling around and teaching , Helen settled in Metro Vancouver. Helen has extensive teaching experience in helping adult learners from various backgrounds achieve success on their own terms.
Mei Fang
Mandarin Teacher
Mei Fang graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). Her major is Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL). From 2004 to 2007, she was assigned by the Ministry of Education, China to teach Chinese in public schools overseas. She is a highly professional, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic instructor. Michael obtained a bachelor’s degree in English and French Language in China, and then went on to obtain Masters degrees in both France and Canada. He gained experience as a French Lecturer in China and Canada, teaching students of all ages and levels. He also has experience as a Private French Tutor.

Marc is a Québec native who has taught with KLT since Spring of 2021. He is a BC certified teacher who is also certified in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Quebec. He has spent 15 years as a French immersion teacher. He is currently in his 4th year of teaching Grade 5 in a French school. He is a husband and a father. Marc enjoys real conversation, authentic learning, and lots of interaction in class. Parents often comment on the engagement and motivation in their children when they learn with Marc.

Dr. Maxwell, holding a Master’s and Doctor’s degree in Education, is a BC-certified educator, composer and author. He has many years of experiences teaching English and French to elementary and high school students in the public and private schools. He teaches essay writing and helps college students improve their essays. He has also published seven books of fiction for young audiences, as well a number of academic articles.
