Suzanne Zhu

Founder / Principal

Founder of Key Language Training, Suzanne Zhu has over 15 years’ experience teaching French, Mandarin and English languages to adults and children.  She is fluent in Mandarin, French, English, and Cantonese. Before immigrating to Canada in 2004, she was hired to provide Mandarin training at the American, British and French Consulates in Guangzhou, China. She obtained a BA degree in French and a diploma in Education from China and received Teacher Education at the University of British Columbia, Canada.

Angel Yu

Executive Assistant

Angel earned a bachelor’s degree in Commerce at the Sauder School of Business from the University of British Columbia. Since 2011, Angel has been a valuable member of Key Language Training, contributing as both a teacher and secretary. With extensive experience in teaching Mandarin to adults and children, Angel played a pivotal role in enhancing and refining the school’s curriculum for the adult Mandarin program. She possesses a natural talent for engaging students and creating an interactive and dynamic learning environment for individuals of all ages.

Juan Du

Mandarin Teacher

Juan Du is a senior instructor at KLT with over 10 years of experience teaching Mandarin. She holds a master's degree in Teaching Chinese As a Foreign Language from East China Normal University. In 2010, Juan received the prestigious "Outstanding Graduate of International College of Chinese Studies" award. Juan has played a crucial role in providing business-centric Mandarin Chinese instruction to Western CEOs and employees. Her wealth of relevant experience, coupled with her upbeat and energetic demeanour, ensures a positive and effective learning experience.

Lin Fang

Mandarin Teacher

Lin Fang is a professional language instructor with a Dual Master's Degree in Education and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Lin possesses exceptional abilities to tailor the curriculum to each student's strengths and weaknesses, fostering a supportive learning environment. With a wealth of teaching experience and extensive knowledge in various fields, she has effectively assisted numerous students in navigating the intricacies of the Chinese language.

Linda Li

Mandarin Teacher

Linda excels in cultivating a friendly, joyful, and motivated class environment. With experience teaching Mandarin across beginner to advanced levels, she is particularly adept at assisting students in successfully passing the HSK exam. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Beijing Language and Culture University, as well as a Master of Mass Communication from Peking University, Linda is a highly experienced teacher dedicated to fostering effective and engaging learning experiences.

Sophie Li

Mandarin Teacher

Sophie Li holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education and a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from Capital Normal University in Beijing. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Sophie has been recognized for her excellence as the Best Teacher in high school. She also taught Mandarin to international students, with a diverse group hailing from countries like the UK, USA, Japan, Korea, and more. Sophie has been a valued member of Key Language Training since 2016.

Angel Yuan

Mandarin Teacher

Yuan is currently a Ph.D. student in linguistics. She holds a master’s degree in Education, a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brock University, a teacher’s college certificate, and a New York State teacher’s certification. She teaches Mandarin to students of diverse professional backgrounds online and in-person, and to undergraduate and public-school students in Canada. Previously, she taught language and business courses at undergraduate schools in China and Taiwan. She has a wealth of experience in working with Mandarin learners from various backgrounds. Combining her professional experience in business and teaching, her class is always engaging, efficient and effective

Helen Yu

Mandarin Teacher

Having received her bachelor’s degree in TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) in China, Helen obtained a master’s degree in TCFL in US. She worked as a full-time lecturer at the University of Notre Dame and Texas A&M University. She also taught university students at the Durham University in England and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She also designed and offered online courses for students at the University of Sheffield. After traveling and teaching around, Helen has settled in Vancouver. As one of much-loved teachers, she has extensive teaching experience in helping adult learners from various backgrounds achieve success on their own terms.

Mei Fang

Mandarin Teacher

Fang graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) with a degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL). From 2004 to 2007, she was assigned by the Ministry of Education of China to teach Chinese in public schools overseas. She is a highly professional, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic instructor. Besides delivering quality classes, she is well organized and plans always for each lesson. Homeworks are designed to keep students right on track. She helps her students learn more effectively through the supportive learning materials she provides

Michael

French Teacher

Michael obtained a bachelor’s degree in English and French Language in China, and then went on to obtain Masters degrees in both France and Canada. He gained experience as a French Lecturer in China and Canada, teaching students of all ages and levels. He also has experience as a Private French Tutor.

Mashid

French Teacher

With more than fifteen years’ experience as a French Teacher, Mahshid is adept in classroom instruction, lesson plan development, and new teacher mentoring. She has the bachelor of French literature and master of French education; she also has different certifications of teaching to kids and Teens from France.

Luc

French Teacher

Luc is a native French speaker and certified teacher. He has a bachelor's degree in Education, a master's degree in Economy, a master's degree in Journalism and a master's degree in Philosophy from France. He is a full-time high school French teacher at a prestigious private school in Vancouver. He taught French to various levels in an elementary school and has more than 10 years teaching experience.  Luc is passionate about teaching, very responsible, patient, organized, logical and methodical. He is a very popular and respected teacher.  

Matthieu

French Teacher

Originally from France, Matt is a native French speaker and fluent in English, which he learned in Toronto and Vancouver. 

Having graduated from the University of Grenoble Alpes, Matt’s major in Psychology and a degree in Human Sciences makes him sociable and especially fitting for teaching children.

Marc

French Teacher

Marc is a Québec native who has taught with KLT since Spring of 2021. He is a BC certified teacher who is also certified in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Quebec. He has spent 15 years as a French immersion teacher. He is currently in his 4th year of teaching Grade 5 in a French school. He is a husband and a father. Marc enjoys real conversation, authentic learning, and lots of interaction in class. Parents often comment on the engagement and motivation in their children when they learn with Marc.

Jayne

French Teacher

Jayne received her bachelor’s degree in French, Spanish and Psychology from Brock University as well as a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education degree. She began her career as an elementary FSL classroom teacher and Vocal Music teacher and then served as the French as a second language, International languages, English as a second language and Arts consultant for 17 years with the Catholic District School Board.

Laura

French Teacher

Laura is a former professor of French at York University in Toronto and has over 20 years of experience in teaching French. She is a native French speaker holding a BA and MA in linguistics from the Sorbonne in Paris. She has been teaching high school students and adults at Key Language Training since 2020. Laura has extensive experiences in teaching the AP, IB and DELF French diploma exams. Her students have achieved very good results. She is a very dedicated and professional teacher. Laura is highly respected by her students.

Mike

English Teacher

With a bachelor’s degree in English and TESOL instructor certificate, Mike has been teaching English to international students for over 20 years. He taught General English, IELTS and TOEFL in the classroom for 19 years in a language school in Vancouver. Mike also completed IELTS and CELPIP instructor training, and created CELPIP practice tests, as well as his own content for courses in General English, TOEFL, IELTS, and CELPIP.

Carol

English Teacher

Carol has a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Saskatchewan. She has over 30 years' experience teaching a variety of subjects. Carol has taught English for Key Language Training since 2016. She has helped pre-kindergarten to adults get a better grasp of English skills through communication activities, grammar tasks and writing assignments. Carol teaches online, in person, in groups, and one-on-one. Carol loves teaching and creating experiences where the learner is engaged and productive striving to obtain a good command of the English language.  

Dr. Maxwell

English Teacher & French Teacher

Dr. Maxwell, holding a Master’s and Doctor’s degree in Education, is a BC-certified educator, composer and author. He has many years of experiences teaching English and French to elementary and high school students in the public and private schools. He teaches essay writing and helps college students improve their essays. He has also published seven books of fiction for young audiences, as well a number of academic articles.
